LADIES FAQs This list of frequently asked questions should help keep your fears at bay and dispel any common myths about waxing. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin… Do I have to take off my underwear? For a high bikini wax you’ll need to wear a pair of loose fitting high leg pants so I can work around the area without giving you a wedgie! For a G-string wax a flimsy thong is ideal to ensure the most thorough results. For a Brazilian or Hollywood wax it is much easier if you remove your underwear. Don’t worry, I’ve seen it all before and knickers just get in the way. Would you go to the hairdressers and leave your hat on? Exactly. Will I have to get on all fours? Absolutely not! Ladies often avoid going for a full bikini wax as they think they’ll have to contort into all manner of uncomfortable and embarrassing positions. This is completely unnecessary as I have been trained to use techniques that are discreet yet effective in order to gain access to all areas needed. Only a few positions are required, all of which are very comfortable. I will explain and instruct each step of the way and client modesty is respected at all times. I’ve never had a bikini wax before - does it hurt? I’m not going to lie to you – it’s not completely pain free like shaving is, but it does get easier with time as your hair gets finer and your skin gets used to it. All steps are taken to ensure the minimum of discomfort by using a variety of stretching techniques as well as high quality products. The hair around the sensitive areas is removed in small sections at a time, and you’ll often be encouraged to help stretch the skin so that it makes the treatment as comfortable as possible. The results are well worth it, I promise. Yikes! I just got my period – can I still get waxed? Your skin is often a lot more sensitive around the ‘time of the month’ so please be aware of this. However, as long as you wear a tampon you can still come along for your treatment. Please give me the heads up beforehand though, so can I make sure I work around it carefully! Won't it be embarrassing? It's all part of the job and the most popular daily treatment is intimate waxing so there’s no reason to feel shy or awkward. I am good humoured and professional and probably see more naked bits on a weekly basis than your average doctor. It can sometimes be a daunting experience the first time you try anything new, but the benefits are definitely worth it. I have hair in weird places – is this normal? Believe me, I have waxed people on every area you can think of. So many women think that they’re the only one who has hair on their nipples or tummy or lower back. Trust me, hair in all these places is more common than you think – people just don’t shout it from the rooftops. Hygiene – how am I protected? At MK Waxing Studio you can rest assured that strict hygiene is observed at all times. In order to prevent any cross contamination, I never ‘double dip’. This means that a new wooden stick is used every single time a blob of wax is applied to the skin (then immediately discarded). The only thing that ever comes into contact with the pot of wax and your nether regions is a clean spatula. All small instruments used during the treatment such as tweezers, scissors and clipper blades are sterilised between clients. Is my therapist qualified and insured? Yes of course! I have completed many training courses with the best educators in the industry. I am qualified in all treatments offered and fully insured by BABTAC (a widely recognised association within the beauty sector). Intimate waxing is obviously of a very personal nature and a highly specialised treatment – you wouldn’t trust your body to just anyone would you? All you need to do is leave your inhibitions at the door and be prepared to walk out feeling like a new woman! |
